What is the origin story of your business? Tell us how and why you started — what inspired you?
For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with pregnancy, the miracle of birth, and sweet little babies! As the years went on, this interest inevitably led to a passion for maternal and newborn care. This calling led me to pursue an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree (Health Studies) and a Bachelor of Health Sciences degree (Midwifery) from McMaster University. I went on to expand my knowledge and experience and become an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC). Having had three beautiful sons of my own, I understand and empathize with the anxiety and fear many women associate with pregnancy, labour, delivery, and caring for a newborn. I feel privileged to use my skills and knowledge to educate, support, and empower families.
What does your business do, and who is your ideal client or customer?
I teach three prenatal education sessions: Labour and Delivery Prep, Postpartum and Newborn Basics, Prenatal Breastfeeding Essentials. I provide lactation services including, clinic, home, and virtual.
What do you love most about running your business?
With my training and experience in midwifery, as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and as a mom, I am very aware of how challenging the postpartum period and feeding your newborn can be. I am so grateful to be able to assist parents in finding their way through this challenging phase.
How can the community best support you?
The Jewish community can support my business by spreading the word, whether through personal referrals, sharing my information with new or expectant parents, or inviting me to speak to at community events or parenting groups. I am not very active on social media but that is something I plan to work on in the near future so following me on social media and engaging with content will also help build visibility. Most of all, creating space within the community to talk openly about postpartum care, feeding challenges, and the emotional journey of new parenthood helps normalize asking for support- something I am passionate about providing.
What is the biggest lesson you've learned on your entrepreneurial journey?
Building a business is really about building trust. People are coming to me during one of the most vulnerable times in their lives, and its not just about expertise- its about listening deeply, showing up with empathy, and creating a safe space.Ive learned that when you lead with genuine care and stay connected to your "why", the right clients will find you and your work will grow in meaningful ways.
Has your Jewish identity, values, or community experience influenced your business in any way?
My Jewish identity has deeply shaped my values and the way I approach my work. In Judaism, there is a strong emphasis on community, and caring for others. These values inspire me to support new parents, nurture their confidence, and help them build their own village of care and connection.
